Designing a headline show for international festivals

“I can't tell you what a difference it made to the show to have you guys on stage - such a huge lift for the crowd and for me - and what a difference it made to the touring experience to have you all along. Would love to work with you all again on the next album tour!”

Designing a headline show for international festivals

Spring / Summer 2015: Award winning electronic music producer Jon Hopkins came to Chivaree with creative media agency Strange Thoughts looking to make a show that would add some energy to his live set for the 2015 summer European tour.

We brought together our hula hoop troupe The Starship Hoopers and worked with several of his songs to choreograph elements with four performers using state of the art “intelligent” LED hula hoops.

The nature of the music required a lot of rehearsal going into the first show and we worked hard to create pieces that would reflect both the precision of the electronic music while adding a human energy to the overall effect alongside giant projections, strobes and lasers.

The tour was a huge success; highlights included a sellout crowd at the Brixton O2 academy in London, and headlining stages at Latitude, Primivera festival, Electric Picnic and performing to 20,000 people on the Park Stage at Glastonbury as the final act on Saturday night. Social media and journalists were hugely positive of our performances.
